HOW IT WORKS

Parking will be at Diamond Spikes Baseball Fields. When you arrive Friday morning, continue down the road past our gate to the Diamond Spikes parking area, then park and lock your car and walk back to our gate.

Check-in will be at basecamp. Walk through our gate and down the dirt road about 150’ and basecamp will be on your right. You can’t miss it. Go to the check-in table to get your race number.

Waivers need to be signed for everyone that comes on the property. Save a bunch of hassle and sign your waiver HERE to get it done now. If that doesn’t work, copy and paste the following link: https://www.smartwaiver.com/v/satxtrails/

Race Brief will be 5 minutes of the Race Director giving you some last minute details about the race, a quick course overview, and a few quick questions. If anyone has questions about the course conditions or anything else, reach out on Facebook, or find me on raceday and I’ll do my best to answer them.

RULES

This should be a fun race, though I expect a few of you to be very competitive and set a

grueling pace. Most everyone else will be out to have a fun morning in the woods.

  1. Have fun!

  2. Don’t cheat

  3. Respect the trail

  4. Practice good trail etiquette

For more rules of the park, see the link below: TL;DR: respect the land and wildlife and people.

COURSE DIRECTIONS & DESCRIPTION

This is a BRAND NEW course and has never EVER had a race on it before. Y’all will go down in history as the very first of what we hope will be many more races.

We have designed this course to showcase a variety of topography with various challenges that occur naturally in the landscape.

This is a TRAIL race and there will be rocks, dirt, tree branches to dodge, stumps to hop over and all variety of thorns, cactus and other things to watch out for and avoid. Keep your head on a swivel and stay light on your feet!

The trail is marked. Follow the flags, arrows, and signs.

Mile 1 - Little Loop The first mile is a loop on our jeep road and is fairly easy. You will start at basecamp and proceed in clockwise loop around the jeep road, encountering several small, but steep climbs and descents on a well packed double-track.

Mile 2-3- Outer Loop Once you complete the inner loop and make it back to basecamp, you will veer into the woods on our brand-new singletrack trail following it south into the creek-bottom for about 300 yards where you’ll see some of our famous bluffs and get into the oak canopy. When you emerge on the other side, you’ll come out onto another jeep road and head West, uphill parallel to Braun Rd. after a steep climb of about 150 yds, you re-enter a singletrack that continues at a more moderate climb for another 300 yds. THIS IS THE BIG HILL, and it looks scary, but it’s only about 100’ in elevation change. You only do this once, so dig in and get to the top. After the Big Hill, you’ll turn North and head back into the creek bottom and into an area with bluffs and some of the tallest trees on the property. The trail winds back and forth through the trees over rocks and trails for another 1.5-ish miles until you find yourself back at basecamp.
